The big-hearted sunglasses by Mantra !
Andrew et Sam, founders of the brand, discovered while teaching in a small village in the Yunnan province, rural China, that many students lacked access to prescription eyeglasses, hindering their success in school. In response, they founded Education in Sight, a non-profit organization dedicated to tackling the sight problem.
Mantra has been founded to solve the urgent issue of poor vision that affects 30 million students in rural China and it has been created on the “Buy One, Give One” concept. It is simple: for every pair of sunglasses they
sell, they donate a pair of prescription glasses to a student in need in rural Yunnan. How great it that ! So if you need sunglasses for this summer, do not hesitate anymore, you will make a student happy and Mantra’s sunglasses are super trendy and colorful ! We love them <3 !

The ethical Swimwear by Cecile Swim !
Charlotte Cecile is a young designer of 21 years old who has jut launched her ethical swim brand ! She works with low production runs in Bali, respecting rights and working conditions of its employees and giving them a fair wage for their work. Each designs are handmade by tailors and produced in limited quantites. Also, the swimwear are made with luxury fabrics at high ethical standards, falling within one of the most important approach of sustainable fashion which is durability.
“I want to create awareness and encourage my customers to be more conscious on the products in which they shop, to know where materials are sourced and where they’re manufactured as well. I’m still in the midst of researching more ways in which I can provide more sustainable products, I feel like this would be a never ending process but one that is very worthwhile.”
Also, Cecile Swim donates $1 for every swimwear set sold to Magical Light Foundation, a humanitarian foundation that focuses on lifting disadvantaged Asians out of poverty – such as building schools/classrooms and medical centres in rural parts of Asia and assisting with community development. To read the interview I made of Charlotte, please click here. To see all the different colors of swimwear (one or two pieces ), I invite you to look at the Website and Instagram !

The Greek handmade sandals by Sunday Tracker !
Behind Sunday Tracker, there is the lovely Tamara that I met during my trip to Melbourne. Her mission is “to showcase the amazing makers of the world, bring a little exotic and interesting to people’s lives; to encourage consumers to think about where their clothes are from, to be proud that they know its origins and to share the makers story with their friends“.
Through its accessories collections (hats, bags, shoes, jewelleries, beach towels), the brand helps small makers to support themselves, their families and communities: “The items we sell don’t go towards making one individual even richer, the purchase of one item can feed a family, help a woman buy a house to live in with her kids, or send their kids to school to get an education that wasn’t available to them“.
I let you discover the beautiful collection on the Website and Instagram. I fell for this beautiful red fringes sandals following me everywhere during these sunny days ! They have been created by two childhood friends and are handmade in Greece, using traditional techniques. They’re made with locally sourced and naturally tanned leather in a small family run factory.
You can buy them here and enjoy a discount of 15% with code cottontravelfriend on all the collection even sales items!
The Mexican handmade pouch of Sunday Tracker !
I also fell for this beautiful pink pouch made of upcycled cotton hand knit using cut-offs recovered from the textile industry, repurposing previously considered scraps into a new product. By buying this pouch it provides a fair income for women living in low income communities. Every piece is unique so it can have a slight difference of color between the website’s image and the product.

Bandanas saving dogs in Bali by The Bali Bandana Project !
My last favorite accessory for this summer is the colorful bandanas from the brand Bali Bandana Project. I met the lovely founder Andree during a night event in Bali. After travelling, she decided to settle down in Bali and create this brand to help dogs from the street ! And there are so many here ! When you buy a bandana, 25% of the sale allows to vaccinate and sterilise dogs (and also cats). But what is also great about the brand is that you can buy a bandana for your doggy or have the same as him !
